I just love creating tablescapes and sharing them with you! This one was so fun to put together using mostly winter table decor things I already had.

winter wonderland place settings

Next up, was my table runner. I used a crocheted scarf, and you guessed it, this was thrifted too!
$2.00 for the win!!

The crocheted scarf was layed down the center of my table on top of the tablecloth.

I don’t normally use a tablecloth and a runner, but I really wanted a layered and cozy look for this particular winter tablescape.

I recently bought some galvanized chargers at Hobby Lobby on sale for 50% off. I will be able to use these with many other tablescapes so it was a super inexpensive investment.

Large white felt snowflakes that I picked up at the dollar store were the perfect size for a placemat.
6 placemats, for $6.00! You can’t beat that!

I started with the galvanized charger, then layered the felt snowflake on top.

Layers of a white dinner plate, and a white salad plate were placed on top of my felt snowflake placemats at each place setting.

And a white linen napkin was folded and tucked between the two.

I ordered children’s mittens last year to use as silverware holders on my New Year’s Day tablescape, and they were perfect for this cozy winter wonderland table too.

They were very inexpensive, and you don’t have to have many pair, since you only need 1 mitten at each place. Therefore, a pair will take care of 2 place settings.

winter wonderland centerpiece

For my centerpiece, I used a large ivory urn that I already had, and cut branches from my yard to fill the urn.

Since I wanted an all white theme, I sprayed them white with some left over spray paint I had from another project. Super quick and easy, and didn’t cost a thing!

I thrifted several white milk glass vases recently for $1.00 each and they made perfect candleholders for my winter centerpiece.

The neck of the vases was too small for my tapers so I shaved them down a bit and used this amazing candle adhesive to help hold them in place. This stuff is awesome!!

I tucked in a few small glass globes, also collected from thift stores, and placed them over large tea lights to add a bit more candlelight to my winter wonderland table. I like these tea lights in a clear container instead of the typical silver metal container.

The clear globes are actually globes from a light fixture. I see them often at thrift stores.

the finishing touches on my winter table

For placecards, I made large clay snowflakes from air dry clay.

I rolled out the clay and placed a piece of crocheted doily on top and rolled over it with my rolling pin. It created a really pretty impression in the clay and gave my snowflakes a bit more character.

I actually saw my friend Cindy at The Vintage Road do this.

Then, I used a large snowflake cookie cutter to cut my snowflakes.

Just FYI, it took several days for these clay snowflakes to air dry.

I attached a piece of white cardstock with the guests name to each snowflake with a silver ribbon.

Another fun thing I like to do for my winter and New Year’s tablescapes is use thrifted sweaters as chair slip covers.

I bought all of these sweaters at thrift stores and didn’t pay more than $5 for any of them.

I think it adds the perfect cozy touch to winter table decor.

And last, but not least, I sprinkled white artificial snow all around my table to create an authentic winter table!

I hope you have enjoyed my winter wonderland tablescape and found some inspiration here!

  18. Saw this from KariAnne at Yhistlewood Farms. Your table ideas are simple and absolutely gorgeous. What creative ideas! Do the clay snowflakes last long? They would be so pretty on packages, as wintertime garland, or ornaments. I imagine they are fragile, but just wondering what your experience is with them. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Thanks so much for the kind words. My snowflake ornaments have held up well. Yes, they are somewhat fragile, so it certainly depends on what you use them for. But, as ornaments they have been great!

I just adore this sweet Winter tablescape…I love the mittens used to put your flatware inside of…It caught my eye because the table that I will be styling for our church’s annual Harvest Tea is going to have a Winter wonderland theme with snowmen and winter birds and this idea with the mittens would also fit right in!! Thanks for the inspiration!!! I hope you are staying warm!
