Happy fall friends!  Today, I want to show you how to make simple and unique place cards for your fall table.

Last year I hosted a dinner for a friend’s retirement. We had the event in the November, so I decided to go with a fall theme.  I made these place cards for each place setting, but instead of putting a name on each card, I added a quote related to the occasion.

I made them again this year for my Thanksgiving table, but used quotes about gratitude and thanksgiving.

These cards would also be so cute as an actual place card with each person’s name on it.

For your Thanksgiving table, it would be fun to write out, “I am thankful for…..” and have each guest fill it in, then go around the table during dinner and read their card.

supplies for fall place cards

For the cards you will need…

white or ivory card stock

wheat stalk

marker (a color to go with your color scheme)

hot glue

paper cutter

computer (unless you want to hand write)

making the place cards

Find quotes or scriptures you want to use.  Pinterest is a good place to find some, or just google quotes for whatever your theme is.

Type the quotes or names on a Word document on your computer, leaving enough space between them to cut them into the size cards you want.

I change the font on each of them, but you can certainly use the same font.

Print your quotes out on the cardstock, or hand write if you choose.

Cut them into whatever size you want.  I use a paper cutter to keep them straight and uniform.

I use a thin maker in a color that goes with my theme and freehand a border around the edge of the card, just to add a little character to it.  Obviously, this is optional.

I cut the bloom part of the wheat stalk off and hot glue it to the top of the card.

And that’s it!!  Super simple place cards for any occasion!

Really, the sky is the limit with these.  You can use any color card stock, and be creative about what you glue to the top for the decoration.

Adapt the colors and embellishment to whatever your theme might be.

For example, you might add a sprig of rosemary or greenery for a Christmas event.  A flower or herb would be cute for a spring event or garden party.

Use them as actual name cards or add quotes, scriptures or messages appropriate to the event.
